You Will Survive

Ave Maria :-)

Well the heat wave is in.. pavements so hot and if you weren't able to park your car indoors, be ready to  literally sizzle once you enter the car... But thank God we can turn to God's Word for both spiritual and physical refuge... physical? Yes...yesss, because God's Word soothes and strengthens us thoroughly... it's more refreshing than a glass of halu-halo or aromatherapy massages --these will soothe just our bodies.. but God's Word reaches our innermost self.. reaches wounded places that medicine can't minister to.. God's Word brings forth a peace and knowledge of God's love for us that grounds us -- so whether it's a heat or cold wave , we will survive:) happy ...hmmm kamusta naman  kayo?

Cannot let this day pass without sharing thoughts with e-mail family:) happy My late mother had her own list of favourite biblical passages  :Romans 8:28      And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose#-o d'oh!... This one is so useful on those days when things go wrong one after the other.. you're wondering what you ever did to invite such bad luck:-/ confused

and then there is Mama Lydia : Iday , iday (iha.iha): " Remember.. Obedience is better than sacrifice  1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams....

Well , I would smile inwardly , chuckle and say : "Syempre naman [-( not talkingpabor sayo Mama iyong obedience:> smug... and what was her added phrase?? : "Obey first, ask questions later.!" And hey children actually took tothis adage in those days... muntik ko na masabi in that era, ha,ha,ha.
Oh those were the golden days when children would simply trust their parent's wisdom..never questioning their motives always believing parents had the children's best interests at heart. Nowadays... children will  accuse you just for raising your voice one decibel higher and then bring you to court .. or call 911 -- holler : :(( crying it's child abuse down here!!! ... Young ones  can put you under the microscope.. study the parent intently in case you are an alien trapped in a human body ready to devour them anytime... oh dear...what has happened?#:-S whew!

And to make it a trio  of fave biblical passages ---this particular  Lenten  gospel Mama Lydia would quote whenever she wanted to exhort us on the joys of serving the Lord  without reservations:
 Luke 6:38 "Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you."

It's so nice in Tagalog...preachers would repeat :"siksik..liglig...."  In the beginning the words just sounded quaint.. they rhymed and sounded good ..very catchy too.. but as years passed by.. you'd see how the Word of God comes true again ..again and again...!

God the Father has devised the most impossible Math ever... He gave us The Best He had and that is JESUS His Son .. to repair all the wrongs we have done ..and when we say we..this is like every single human being who ever graced the planet earth until the last man born till the earth is no more.
But in this greatest subtraction ever, a supernatural effect follows... GOD ADDS , GIVES US BACK OUR LIFE AND INHERITANCE, OUR WHOLENESS AND HOLINESS.. OUR IDENTITY restored AS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE MOST HIGH.O:-) angelIn this subtraction, where
Jesus lays His very life..and takes upon Himself cruelest punishment that should have been ours... this subtraction of life... grants us complete forgiveness of sins... the only way to recieve the Holy Spirit again.

By now if we donot know or realize how the Holy Spirit can affect us..the Mighty Spirit of GOD  multiplies countless times graces, gifts, healing and deliverance for the believer.  Through the Holy Spirit, "we move from glory to glory." As we have recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit  in our sacramental baptism..how wise to get to know Him and to allow the Spirit to mold us.

Mankind's math will always and forever be limited ...as limited as our human prowess can be.

But the Lord's math goes beyond our comprehension.:x lovestruck

In closing ..we have experienced this divine mathematics many times... many times.
 Think of all those years that you have learned how to understand, to forgive the unforgiveable.. and to trust and allow your heart to love again... to kindle hope  even when all seems hopeless... to still find strength within you even when you think you are already half-dead from the hardships in life...
Whether you are a parent  or spouse.. a priest  or single for life..  you have had countless opportunities to love others....and it has never been easy.  To love those who love us back..that is pure pleasure.
But to extend kindness, exercise the highest tolerance... and when everything else fails ---- then to simply forgive and love as Christ would have done....  that is the purest math that God has lent us and that we have learned to apply in real life.

As we grow older whether in years or in wisdom..we are awed by this capacity to love : it is hard to love addicts, abusive people... it is hard to care for the sick and disabled .. for old Alzheimer ridden patients... to make sure that ungrateful, hardhearted loved ones will still have something to eat, a roof over their heads... tuition fee for school... it is hard to pray for the bad company (barkada) of our loved ones..those who have bad influence  and cause them to sin... yet we cannot outright pray this way : " Oh GOD let your fire fall>:P phbbbbt and burn this wretched person to a crisp."

We can't  just cave in that way.... there will be times that GOD would even ask us to pray for those who make life miserable for us... don't look at me:P tongue... It's GOD who thinks of these things:"> blushing... like I said His Math is weird.

In the end... we wonder if God makes sense. HE DOES.:) happy
For it is not evil that will conquer evil but goodness and God's love that will overcome evil...and in this,
CHRIST is victorious, now and forever!
Love in Action
 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.
 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord.20 On the contrary:
   “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
   if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e]

 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

May we grow deeper in our knowledge and faith of Jesus Christ .. may we dwell on His Person, what He did..how He did it..and
Why He did it for us. May we learn from our Math Teacher - our Master, and may we pass His class;) winking Happy Lenten season to all....................................... God bless you... te mye:x lovestruck
