Wolfgang and Friends

Ave Maria:-)

It's a long week-end for us here in the Philippines and all because of 2 beloved feastdays All Saints Day, Nov.1 and All Souls Day, Nov.2.
but waaaiiit  friends*/:) raised eyebrows before we pack those bags, fill those coolers with litres of coke , adobo  and sandwiches, chichiryas  stacked and ready to be consumed and head for the cemetery for that instant reunion with relatives*:x lovestruck --- I really wonder if they celebrate it this way at the other Catholic countries? But over here whether it's a memorial park  situated in more affluent areas --- and where the rich have specially built expensive mausoleums, practically a big studio  unit in itself with its own toilet and facilities - the better to host those family reunions*:D big grin --- or whether it's those crowded cemeteries .... where can hardly find a place to sit... to walk or to park --haha yes that's how crowded it is --- it's really strange because you're remembering departed ones..yet the air is sooo festive ...ah yes Onli in Da Philippines*;) winking

You'd be lucky if you happened to be at a memorial park where holy mass would be offered.. and then too it is heartwarming to see many families or individuals actually praying....  often the holy rosary, lighting candles , flowers -- it makes for a continuous connection between the 'dead'  (those who have hopefully crossed over to heaven) and the living (those who still need to fulfill their mission on earth).

Indeed wait a bit before going to Himlayang Pilipino or Eternal Gardens or Paco Cemetery...
how bout brushing up first  on our understanding of these 2 consecutive feasts...Can you imagine all the trouble we go thru , Yet miss the most Essential Part of all -- meaning --- baket? Anu ba talaga miron?
Yan naman kase eh ...naka ugalian na lang natin yung join na nang join *;;) batting eyelasheshahaha. Think before you jump, dear.

Here goes....
All Saints, is a solemnity celebrated on 1 November by parts of Western Christianity, and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in Eastern Christianity, in honor of all the saints, known and unknown.

In Western Christian theology, the day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision*O:-) angel in Heaven. It is a national holiday in many historically Catholic countries.(that's us , yey!)
In the Roman Catholic Church, the next day, All Souls' Day, specifically commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been purified and reached heaven.

Now bear with the next trivia ... it really is good for us Catholics and even non-Catholics to know this :
Catholics celebrate All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day in the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful spiritual communion between those in the state of grace who have died and are either being purified in purgatory or are in heaven (the 'church penitent' and the 'church triumphant', respectively), and the 'church militant' who are the living. Other Christian traditions define, remember and respond to the saints in different ways.

Everyday there's something new we can learn... something that makes us love our Christian faith more.
In my inbox... found out that today's saint was a St. Wolfgang .... Wolfgang whoooo ...and what kind of name is that for a saint? But lo and behold Wolfgang it is.*:P tongue He was a bishop and a very good preacher, sparing his people from terrible sufferings by evangelizing the enemy pagans who were about to invade them.

the one who composed the prayer  prayed : ..."that we be delivered from a glorification of the occult into a better understanding and appreciation for honoring the saints."

The prayer seeking St. Wolfgang's intercession went on to remind us how modern man is just much too fascinated with anything dark and sinister... name any branch of media : the movies and tv series that often turn out to be monster hits  with Part 1, 2 and 3's are those that deal with horror/occult/ bloody gory sick thrillers ---
For the longest time , children all over the world were bananas with Harry Potter --yes Harry with his wizard powers was the coolest boy to emulate.... the Vampire series  also cunningly used the premise of Unwavering Romantic Love so that you later wished you'd have a  Vampire for your lover -- becoz hey...the love they offer never dies  d-u-h---- and you can fly , rip off intestines off those who make life miserable for you... you stay physically gorgeous forever --- never mind if when hunger pangs strike you --you ache for human blood. yum-yum, slurp*>:) devil

What was this series .....      oh Twilight.....?
On cable tv..there are too many Vampire series True Blood... Buffy , some 'cool' witch series -- have to get the titles of current shows .... some presented in a cutesy, fashionista way --- that way you get the teens, pre-teen wannabes hooked ---- who wouldn't want to be beautiful, powerful and invincible --- watta masterful ploy --- *:( sad

"Teach us to evangelize those who are fascinated with fear, evil and death..."  the prayer went on ...

Ultra FASCINATION indeed. *#-o d'oh!

It's the same Perfect Lie Satan used to lure Eve and then Adam.

Satan :Eve baby... You really don't have to obey God all the way.... He's doing this to have Absolute Control over                                             you.... but in fact you can be Like God.
Eve    :  (in inital disbelief)  I can???? Seriously???(oops , pride monster  steps in)  I can be like God?! Where's that apple?!!!!    Adam.... git here.

Oh Eve... if foolishness had a name it would be spelled E-V-E*8-| rolling eyes .... you were content to have a little portion of seeming power ... Entirely Missing the point...  God's power has for its source His Perfect Love and Holiness.... it's not might for might's sake... it's not glory for personal consumption.

the prayer ends with  ..."Fill us Jesus with your love, grace and holiness ..."*:x lovestruck
( to replace the fascination with fear, evil, death)

In retrospect had a very young relative who was so taken with a terrible gory movie --- something like cruel rape
... a lot of torture scenes and this young relative so glued , watched it many times...many times.

The young relative also was very quiet, withdrawn...had a lot of personal and family issues going on --- very poor self-esteem too.... was so afraid of how this fixation with that movie would tie up all her internal explosive elements.
I mean..with everything this young person was going thru...-that's the last  mental/emotional  input you'd want that person to recieve. thank God this young soul survived that phase but God knows the amount of inner healing still needed.

Watching Adventure Thrillers, Crime movies with a whodunit plot ...some well made sci-fi movies... or even historical epics like Braveheart ---- you can live with whatever blood is spilled on the screen -- it's not gore for gore's sake --- there's a good purpose... but many movies are so sick . You could not possibly sleep or eat after watching them, if you could last 15 minutes.

When husband Dilbert and I together with our ever loyal Lola Lina trekked to Himlayang  Pilipino.... even if the visit was just a short one...perhaps less than 2 hours.... just enough to clean , light candles, pray the rosary - then our silent prayers and  private conversation  with our parents, with God  ( my dad, mom and my husband's mom all buried same area) -- it was an opportune time to simply slow down -- turn off our ever chugging internal engines -- just savor the time at the memorial park -- we went earlier than Nov. 1 so  tho' there were already visitors at the park..it was still serene ... easy on the eyes..and still clean...thank God.

We don't have a big family... my cousins  , aunts uncles most of them sa Visayas, the ones in Manila so far off --- so really it's just us sometimes with son Joshua --- my half sister half brother , Dils brother go on their day-off ....
I just thank God that I still have this annual visit with Dilbert , lola... becoz one day they could be cleaning my lapida... or vice versa... my goodness ..may our hearts be prepared for that time of temporary situtation...you are our strength dearest Jesus.

We're looking at the lapidas of our beloved  parents... and they are looking back at us from heaven..and they can see us in a better way . It is a good feeling knowing one day we will all be reunited.*:D big grin..that many..the whole majestic host of angels and saints in heaven are praying for us...cheering us on .."Kaya nyo yan..kaya mo yan.... pagbutihin mo at napaka saya dito...sobra*:) happy"

Are you tired? It's alright... we will just offer everything to our Saviour ....and cling to this passage : form the Letter of Paul to the Romans

28 We are well aware that God works with those who love him, those who have been called in accordance with his purpose, and turns everything to their good.

AMEN TO THAT ST.PAUL...   have a happy All Saints and All Souls Day celeb folks... God bless you..te mye

Time to Fall In Love

Ave Maria:-)

What makes you and me tick? what makes Obama....your rowdy ,bossy neighbor.... family, friends...celebrities... men on death row..the man on the moon if there was one -- what makes them tick?
Will venture a safe guess.*:-? thinking... L-O-V-E.*:x
lovestruck... either one is full of it... recieves and gives it  or lacks sorely love --- hence life based on this premise  is either a Joy or Absolute Misery.

No one could possibly exist ... be sustained and live with some measure of goodness and sanity, reason and nobility without ever having experienced true love... and the higher we are able to reach this level of goodness --- the greater the probability that we have recieved, understood -- been immersed in love... truer love equals greater, immeasurable results.. of the lasting kind.*O:-) angel

In our younger years... we tended to romanticize love .... in our time (gosh this sounds so dated*:P tongue) we might have started with Nancy Drew/ Hardy boys -soon found out walang love story masyado don ... found our way to the Mills and Boon Barbara Cartland romantic sagas --- wished and mooned over meeting our own dashing Romeos who would sweep us off our feet -- we'd run out of breath from sheer delight and happiness --- and yes , we dearly believed in the Walt Disney bylines  :
"And they lived happily ever after...."
Awwwww...s-i-g-h..... sabay faint hahaha....And then as we grew older..we discovered the bestsellers .. oops ...this meant sexier plots ... with  lots of action adventure to spice it up... Little by little , thru the books we sensed the very colorful life out there.
... in the big ...wide world.

And then we decided to have our own Love Story ---uhhh is it stories?... hahaha ...plural talaga becoz for many souls it had to be that darn Trial and Error route...with majority experiences at the Error side. whoops.

And what did we learn along the way??? That I pray to God young ones...the younger generation learn faster than we did *:P tongue that real love is not icing and cake... fluff and frills...not heady mist and perfume....no solely laughter and song.... oh no.... when we truly fall in love ... we could get our hands dirty... our faces smeared with our tears... our backs and bellies aching.. and our hearts constantly tugged from the sheer pressure of love. Pag-ibig nga naman.

We rub our eyes to see that the true Romeos are the ones who never leave your side... who love you for the right reasons ...who still love you even if it borders on being unreasonable.... who bring out the best (in you)... the good in you... and help you shine ...shine a light that is divine and touches the life of others in a beautiful way.

We are amazed that when we realize we too pala can love with such a depth, width and height --- to think we only fancied ourselves forever vain, selfish , petty, precocious -- iyon pala when we fall in love -especially with GOD.... this love touches all other loves we will have in our life --- so much so that  even if we didn't want too --- God's love heals and strengthens, transforms and changes us in such a way that we do things we would never ever, ever dare to do NOT IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS talaga*:"> blushing .... Yet ...we gingerly begin this new love adventure...Our feet get wet... and then our hands...bodies... until our whole being gets immersed in the love of GOD.Hallelujah...it only gets better.*O:-) angel

Sometimes we are frustrated becoz we want to perfect in one snap --- to please GOD Who is our LOVER... but the Lord Himself hushes our fears... reminding us gently that He is the Patient One..and that He can wait for us.... forever if it takes us that long to love Him back*:) happy.. to love Him with obedience and complete surrender.

I'll just fast forward to snippets of life ... how we find out soon enough that Christ's love has changed us.
-- You become content simply beholding your loved one... or embracing your loved one whether he be spouse, child or brother...  gives you that incredible joy ( never mind what the trials of the day were but just one embrace replenishes you) --- you just know you are too blest to feel that way --- parang the love in itself is a REWARD and you could not care less if they returned it or not... WEIRD right? sinabi mo pa .*;) winking
Weird and true.

-- Many cause us pain... it's easier when we deserve it meaning ..we did something very wrong or we hurt them first so it's sort of ok that they hurt us ... but when loved ones Just Want to Hurt you for whatever errrr Valid Kuno reason they have...then it is so very painful... Yet becoz you love them nga... you bide your time, you wait for guidance from the Lord how to deal with them*:( sad... you pray for the grace to understand where they're coming from becoz if you don't mapapatulan mo eh and how to forgive them-- and you don't want to be drawn into a conflict superbly planned by the devil.

-- Maybe it is really true love that hits us when we are content with simple joys... simple , unexpected manifestations of love.

-- And it is also love when you are willing to sacrifice your own share of attention and care from the person you love so that this person is free to minister to others without you holding him/her back... (Pls donot take this to mean that if you were married..you'd allow your spouse to have a fling..hahaha ... nope it don't work that way)

--- what I mean is that Christian love is a love shared*:) happy.... Jesus was not possessive nor exclusive.. He died for all, He openned his heart to those cast out by society. He loved us so much...He shared His Spirit with us to enable us to love others as much as He did.

-- If we listened hard enough ... or no... better put...if we quieted our hearts enough and spent time to pray ... just a simple leaning on Jesus and yes passing on all our cares to Him , we would feel Him holding us so close to His side... and we would literally hear music in our heart, in our mind... in the world -- it's not music as we know it ... just a sort of music of the soul that enables us to carry on..no matter how difficult the challenges be.

--  it reaches a point where when you know of people who are truly graced by GOD and who can touch the lives of others in a special way -- you gladly give way...or try to assist this person... basta you don't want to stand in the way or in Tagalog we say ,ayaw mo maging pabigat.... You just want this brother or sister to succeed in His/her mission to share Christ... And when they do succeed you are just as happy as they are anyway.. perhaps even happier. Weird again right? Sinabi mo pa. hahaha. GOD IS GOOD.

Gotta go thanks for reading till the end ... nawa ay lalo nating matanggap ang pag-ibig ng Dios sa pamamgitan ni Kristo Hesus. Time to fall in love, now na... See you when I see you...hugs   :-) ta mye*:x lovestruck
