| adorable ..they had this joyous anticipation for their catechism class |
So
but there will be instances where one did take that vacation --perhaps
with family or friends --- spent hard-earned moolah for it --- but
horror of horrors
Imbes (instead of ) na recharge...na replenish ang body , mind and
spirit ... one goes home plain dog-tired hehe parang mas worse ang pakiramdam?? huhuhu ---
perhaps trip to destination too long, a virus caught on the plane or at a
public swimming pool... too many drinks
..too
much food ( the type we should eat in moderation ) ... maybe there were
too many people in the place that should have been sanctuary even for a
week-end .... so really it doesn't necessarily guarantee that if we fly
off some secluded far-away place that we get the rest we needed.
Relatives
and friends in the U.S. often share how it's work..work...work non-stop
so that when a long holiday week-end is in sight ..you can be sure
they'll book for a cruise...a long- drive.... somewhere, somehow and be
soooo ready to party orrr sleep non-stop... just laze around... have a
good time.
And
God would want us to have that much needed rest and recreation too. He
is not a kill-joy ... but He would want us to experience joy.. happy
moments that don't leave a literal or figurative hang-over later on.
Maybe
then it's not a bad idea to invite our Lord when we do have our
outings... maybe we can pray and ask Him to lead us where best to
go...when... who to go out with? Jesus would be the Perfect Tour Guide
if there ever was one.

| selfie with little ones waiting for their catechism class, great way to start the day |
Once I attended a gathering of friends.. about 4 -5 couples present...and the host was a Christian family --- one of their sons had just turned 18 .... and the father asked his pastor friend to offer a prayer ..a special blessing for the boy -- who incidentally did not squirm or feel awkward at all ... he actually prayed too, bowed his head and solemnly recieved the blessing -- so simple so natural so real and beautiful.... I couldn't help remembering nephews, youths of similar age or even my son who would rather suffer a painful injection first rather than have such a public display of faith and dependence on God...hahaha. The Catholic that I was ..but I admired that moment... even envied this in a positive way ...am I making sense...? but you know what I mean... twas a golden moment.
Back
to our quest for that R and R..what then if we cannot go on
vacation....? for whatever reason : we cannot take a leave from work...
no one will be left home... not enough funds.. other members of the
family are sick or don't like the idea?
Let us find our own little paradise. Create our secret space ... find our sanctuary right where we are... Even at home this is possible.
.. Remember how the original Paradise of Adam and Eve was truly Paradise because they could fellowship with God... they didnot live apart from Him..they lived in the center of His perfect will --paradise indeed.
It
still being Easter season we can be reminded that with Christ's
Resurrection then Ascension to heaven ..He has fulfilled the promise of
the Holy Spirit. In our sacramental baptism we recieved the Holy Spirit
...and ponder this dear comrade soul : it means we are now 24 hours a
day with God becoz the Holy Spirit is with us, in us! Is this Good News or Good News?
Our
sanctuary of sanctuaries is our own little self -awesome : our true rest is
communing with the Lord at any time of the day --- we could go to church
perhaps hear holy mass... pay a visit to the Adoration chapel , adore
our Lord, make chikka with Him, share our little stories with Jesus, cry
our hears out, give Him a little lovin'...recieve tons of lovin' from
Him in return
...He always give us back more than we ever deserve....we
can ask Him all those questions that bug us..and then wait for His answers
that could come in our mind.. in our heart ...or thru His Word.... and
when He doesn't seem to answer...it doesn't bother us anyway
.... because it is enough that we are with Him...with Him
Boracay...Palawan... is far away...but God did give us free will and enough
intelligence and imagination to realize it's the same blue sky above our
head that covers Boracay... it is essentially the same air... the same
wind... so the beach is not present .. noisy, sleazy clubs nowhere in sight ..(that has gotta be good haha)... that's alright.... take a
walk early in the morning or evening...in your little street or somewhere
nice.... pray the rosary, be with Mama Mary her company is better than
being with difficult people who drain us out , and she knows where we hurt and takes care
of us... pray for every intention you feel is worth praying for --- pray
for the day God does take you to an honest -to-goodness white pristine beach hahaha , you
never know
....
but be grateful for the moment that we are with the Lord... that wherever we are the God of all
Creation , the God of All Splendors can give us a daily dose of His
love, His rest , His wisdom...His laughter, his strength and I will have
to stop bcoz there is no end to the Goodies on God's List.
Sanctuary within reach ... God is good.
Have a blessed Easter season..and do let's prepare for the Feast of Pentecost come June
God bless us all...te mye
hope to post link to vid of children waiting for their catechism class ...so sweet... the energy and sweetness of innocents are a balm from heaven.
